I have some wonderful news! Yesterday I completed my first ever special order! A friend, Laura, saw this little blog and asked me if I could make her an apron! I decided to create the pattern myself. I spent some time observing Laura and looking around her kitchen. One thing I noticed is Laura has a really unique, fun style. In fact, when I showed her some different fabric examples, she told me what she wanted…something really funky! Another thing I noticed is Laura loves roosters. Her kitchen is decorated with rooster wall paper and there are several other cute rooster items around on her shelves and counter tops.
To incorporate these two important aspects of Laura’s taste, I had to take a little trip to the fabric store. I played around with several options, laying the fabrics together to come up with the best combo. I finally decided on a zebra print, a yellow and red rooster print, and a red floral print. All of the fabrics are that sturdy upholstery weight cotton that I have been raving about. Hopefully this will help the apron last for a long time.
In designing the apron, I also decided to make it double sided. I really like reversible aprons because if you get one side dirty when you are cooking, you can flip it around when company arrives. Also, Laura can decide which side she likes better and wear it that way more often.
I absolutely love how this apron turned out. I haven’t known Laura for very long, but I really hope that she likes it too!
Congratulations on your first special order! The apron is really cute. :)
