Hello everyone, I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I spent the weekend camping with some friends…the first camping trip of the summer! It was very fun, and I got a few crafting ideas that would make camping more enjoyable…those will come shortly!
Last night I made this reversible fabric bowl, found through the Imagine Fabric blog. I used some Amy Butler fabric scraps, left over from this top. I used yellow thread as a contrast, and I am pretty happy with that decision. Mine turned out a little different than the one in the tutorial. I think part of the reason is I used a lighter fusible webbing and so my bowl is a little bit floppier. Also, I didn’t completely follow the pattern (“of course!” you are saying, “What would this blog be if Kate followed the patterns like she is supposed to?”). I made the sides a little higher by extending the triangle (cut where you see each side seam) all the way to the base of the bowl. I think I would like to try one the original way as well.

And now a question for you…does anyone have any ideas on what to put in this?? I guess I kind of made it on a whim, and now I’m not sure what to use it for.

I love it! You could toss mail into it or put it near your door for keys, sunglasses, etc. Maybe potpourri. :)
It’s so cute! I think Nicki’s suggestions are good–you could also put jewelry or hair accessories in it. Or fruit? Would that make it flop?
Hi Kate! Love the fabric bowl! I have a similar pattern but have not made it yet. I see candy and chocolates inside it…and when they are finished some lovely buttons, ribbons and embroidery thread (only until you can get to the shop again to stock up on the candy though!)
So fun! You could use it to hold some little notions or pretties in your sewing area. I am always looking for containers for my buttons and baubles. Looks just perfect for that kind of thing. Good work!
Put it next to your machine and throw all your pins/thread ends/fabric scraps in there as you sew. That way, unlike me, you won’t have to call FEMA in with a backhoe to unearth your sewing machine under the rubble.
