I saw this dress in an Anthro catalogue a couple months a go, and I finally started to put a dress together that is inspired by it. Here it is…its almost done, I just have to alter it a little bit to fit better, and you can see in the picture I need to close up a hole in the front lacy part. To make this dress, I took a basic dress pattern that I had and figured out how to alter it to look like the Anthro dress.

I love seeing people making patterns their own! I’m not the only one that uses Anthropologie for inspiration…Lucky Knitter made this beautiful top starting with Rae’s Free Spring top Pattern as the base.
There are some other great submissions to the Build Your Wardrobe Flicker group as well. This beautiful dress is by Ginny Rae.
I love looking through the photos at Build Your Wardrobe…so many great submissions! Keep ‘em coming! And tell us, where do you find your inspiration for your designs and fabrics?

Oh my goodness, that top is absolutely fantastic! I love it!!! A lot of my inspiration ends up coming from other bloggers like you! Fantastic job!!!
Beautiful dress. I love that you took something and made it your own. Very creative.
The inspiration to be found is unlimited. I can sit at the computer and get so revved up to sew something new. THank you for adding to my inspiration!
Love the dress!
Fabulous! I love anthro too. Almost all the pictures on my inspiration board are from old Anthro catalogs.
I absolutely love your dress!
oh that is so well done! i fell in love with that same anthropologie dress when i saw the catalog too! i started inventing reasons i would need it to try and justify spending the money… but this is definitely inspiring to try and recreate a similar feel. would you mind sharing the pattern that you started with?
