This year, I decided to make most of our Christmas gifts by hand. As you can imagine, I have quite the task ahead of me! Luckily, a few bloggers have gotten together to feature Holidays by Hand. I am excited to sumbit some of my work and *hopefully* keep on track with the gifts! This week, Ribbons and Thread, is hosted by Kelly at Almost Frugal.
Some of my fondest childhood memories are with my aunt “Auntie Caren”. When I was in elementary school, she would take my sister and I out for ice cream, and allow us to get two scoop sundays. Having high tea together is also one of the favorite pastimes we share.

Auntie is a refined woman with sophisticated taste, and I have tried to make her a gift to fit her elegant panache. I decided to make her a light-weight scarf (to fit nicely with the relatively warm winters of California). I embroidered two branches onto the soft pink colored fabric with cream colored thread. The edges of the scarf have been frayed to create a casual side to its elegance.
I liked the first one that I made so much, I decided to embroider a brown one for another person. Here is the progress I have made so far:
I had enough fabric to make two of the pink scarves, so I have posted one over at my Etsy store.
